I saw that this reel won Outdoor Life's Best Value Buy for $130 for 2019. They say it casts farther than most reels.

 

 

 

 

 

What are people who've actually used this reels thoughts on it?

I haven't used that model.  I do use a bunch of Smokes, which is a model or two 'up' from that and usually can be found around that price on the Bay

Do they cast extremely far?

I love them.  In fact just got two more on order.   That will make, I think, numbers 7 and 8.

 

Every reel I have casts as far as I ever needed it to.  I honestly couldn't tell you which of my reels casts farther than any other...(Daiwa, Abu, Quantum, Lews, Pinnacle....from 99-199MSRP)

 

The quantum Accurist S3 (non “PT” model) scored awesome on Tackle Tour and won “Best Buy” award there too.

Do you know what the PT stands for?

Performance tuned.  I believe they just upgrade some components and warranty to 3 years.  

I just picked up the reel and rod in a combo for 149.99 amazon. The guy on YouTube REELTEST broke down all the specs called it best reel in $100 range ever!  and Tackle tour website agrees the only negative I have heard is there arnt enough gear ratio options my model is 7:3:1 with med/fast rod looks like Winn grips and a sick white and red color scheme. If Quantum keeps this up shimano and diawa might be in trouble....I will update my experience with the combo at a later date.
