Triton 189 trx

Featured Replies

Went and visited Anglers Choice Marine in Martinsville, VA for the first time yesterday to look at and price new boats... I feel like I’ve looked at about every boat that exists within my budget. The one that really caught my eye for the quality and price was the Triton 189 trx with a 150 Pro XS Fourstroke. I mainly fish myself and one other person and my biggest lake around is 2,020 acres. Some are just a few hundred acres. I feel like this boat has everything I need and the price looks great. Now the decision is do I want to buy one off the floor or wait until spring to order a new one..

Anyone else have the 189 trx? Thoughts?

My buddy has one. Wonderful boats. I dont think you would do much better in their price range. I'm a Triton fan and have loved all that I've owned or fished from. As for the order or buy one that's a personal decision.  If they had one I really liked on the floor I'd go all in and not look back. Of course I've never been a patient guy so If I were wanting to buy one now I wouldn't wait til spring. Good luck

I’m starting a new job at a higher salary next week and although I am confident I could buy it next week I think I’m gonna hold off until the spring just to give myself a little more time to get my ducks in a row.

As far as the boat goes, I loved the layout and the look of it. Everything on it appeared to be quality made. The cockpit and the front deck was ALOT bigger than what appeared in the pictures online. The sales guy said it would run 55-60 on a good say depending on conditions. The 70lb Minn Kota Edge was crap though. I will upgrade to probably an Ultrex. I want gps anchoring.

I didn’t see a better boat for $35,995.

I looked hard at the Ranger 518 but with the new HP rating their price has jumped from mid 40s to 51K. I just can’t justify that much money on a boat. Around 40 is my limit.

Sounds like ur approaching it the right way. I'd say 55 to 60 is right on the money.  My new Triton 18tx has the Minn kota edge and it's a decent motor. I'll eventually upgrade but it works just fine so I may use it til I need a new one. Ranger guys are gonna say they're way better etc. I've fished outta several and I honestly dont see how they're any better.  I believe most all new boats are decent quality so whatever fits ur needs and budget I'd buy. I think u would be more than satisfied with the triton.

i have a 2007 tr-186 with a 150 optimax on it, I know the boat setups are slightly different and different year models but I am loving my triton, ive had her out on Lake Norman and we were in 3-4ft wind blown white caps and with careful running we were able to get to our spots safe and as dry as you can be in those kind of waters, she handles well and fishes two people with ease and ive had 3 people fishing in it just fine as well. I think you will love your triton and make sure to keep us updated once you get it!

I looked at a 2020 model today with a fortrex, 2 Lowrance Ti 2s, compartment lights, and a 150 ProXS for $42,995. Do you think that is a fair price or high?
