Lund Renegade 1875 vs Vexus AVX189 vs Alumacraft Pro 185

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm shopping for a boat no bigger than 19ft to bass fish with my family of three and some friends in the future. I live in NJ and have located Lund, Vexus, and Alumacraft dealers not too far from me. I configured these boats out on their websites and with all the same features (as close as possible that I can get them) they all came out around $29,500 (115hp outboard, HB Helix 10, upgraded trailer). I plan to add my own TM when time of purchase which will be an Ultrex 112.

Out of these three boats, which one do you think comes out ahead in craftsmanship, value, durability, and stability?

I really had my eye on a Lund Pro V Bass 1875, but the price was just out of the budget after everything was configured.

Additional info: Our biggest lake in NJ is 2,500 acres. This will be my first bass boat. Thanks ahead.

If by configured you mean graphs and trolling motors, and if by getting the bare bones version it fits within your budget, then get that.

You can always add that stuff later.

Especially for a family boat it will ride much smoother.

If that’s not the case then it’s really a toss up between Lund and Alumacraft. Venus hasn’t been around long enough to know.

If you're looking at Vexus, I'd consider the AVX1880 instead of the 189. The 1880 has a pad hull and will ride better than the mod-V of the 189.  Between those three brands, I'd pick the Lund or the Vexus (the 1880, not the 189).  The renegade and the AVX1880 are both wider than the alumacraft.  I'd take another look at the pro V bass, It's a pretty sweet boat.

I recommend going to the different dealers and crawling through the boats.  You'll get a feel which one you like the best.

The AVX1880 and Pro V Bass are out of the OP's price range, as stated.  Out of those three, I'd prefer the Lund Renegade.  There's plenty of members that have one, so you might want to do a search, to see their experiences.  On lakes that size, you should be fine.  Heck, I've fished Erie out of my 18' Xpress.
