Mercury 150hp EFI

Featured Replies

The new boat I am buying has a 2008 Mercury 150hp EFI and I would like to hear some comments from current owners.

At the moment I can't afford the extra $3k for the 150 Optimax so I would like to know how this motor is and how it runs and things like that.

Are they that bad on gas mileage? I can't really afford the 150 Optimax as it's about $3,000 more.

The dealer told me it was only about 1-2 mpg less than the 150 Optimax at full throttle. Is that about right or is it worse?

Had them both - not that much difference.

I have a 2002 150 EFI mounted on my Xpress and yeh it does a good job of suckind own gas. But I've never had a single problem with it, it runs great, and I just love the way EFI's sound lol
