NE Ohio/Lake Erie

Featured Replies

Anyone from Ohio been doing any good bank fishing smallies on Lake Erie? Just wondering what a good fall bait is for them to bank fish for them off the rocks.

Lol yeah good point. Conneaut harbor off the road at the entrance to the lagoon.

I like to use jerk baits for smallies. Also try spoons, F13 floating rapalas, crankbaits & bottom oriented baits like jigs, gobbie imitations & tubes. If you fish the areas around the river opening to the lake you can catch bonus steelies & walleye especially at first & last light.

Ok thanks. We were doing good in the spring but it died when the water warmed up. When do they pick back up again shallow?

As soon as the water temps start dropping in the fall below 70 degrees.  Best water temp range is 50 to 65. Same baits that work in the spring will work in the fall. Fall pattern is just a reversal of spring.
