Deep, fat, fall smallmouth

Featured Replies

Spent about 4 hours this afternoon with my son, hitting some deeper humps on Georgian Bay near our home.
The water was about 53 deg, and the smallmouth are starting to work deeper for the winter here. They’ll spent much of their time staying pretty close to these big underwater jumps for most of the winter, and when they get schooled up on them in the fall it can be fantastic fishing.
We hit a half dozen humps that topped off at anywhere from 22’-35’ and are surrounded by deeper water. We caught fish down to as deep as 47’ today. All our fish came on Berkley Maxscent flatworms on a drop shot, and a few on Berkley power tubes.
Lots of fish in the 2lb range, and quite a few up to just over 4lbs were caught, with a few real heavy ones lost during battle.
As it gets cooler, it should only get better, as more fish show up on these deep spots.

Don't know how I missed this one ~

Looks like your son is growing up to be quite a hammer.

Nicely Done to you both.
