Harper's Ferry and Vicinity---Tips?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My 7-year-old son and I are headed to WV for a couple days---Shepherdstown area, near Harper's Ferry.  I understand that there might be some decent shore-fishing opportunities for SMB this time of year.  Just wondering if folks have any pointers about where that might be, specifically?  Any good public access spots, knowing we won't have a boat?

Thanks in any case!

You might want to try the Northeast Bass Fishing section forum too.  There are surely some anglers on here that fish the upper Potomac.  I personally have never fished much above Brunswick, and I'm almost always in a canoe or kayak.  Sorry I can't help you more.

Try Potoma Wayside Park. I stopped by a few years ago while driving through. Caught a few nice smallies and saw a carp too. Just remember to be careful because you've got 3 state lines so it's easy to get on the wrong side without a license.
