NRX 822s vs Megabass Addermine

Featured Replies

I am looking to add another spinning rod. I used to never fish them, but round myself using them a good bit last year.

I have a NRX 852s that I use for weightless senkos and shaky heads.

I have a Lews Dropshot rod that I'm not entirely crazy about.

I am looking for a rod for drop shot, ned rigs, and other similar stuff. My drop shotting is almost always casting and dragging. I very rarely fish vertically.

I have another custom spinning rod that was built specifically for Ned rigs... but I plan on fishing BFL's as a co-angler this year so I'm looking for something that would best compliment the 852 so I don't have to carry more than 2 spinning rods.

Any thoughts on the NRX 822s DSR or the Addermine for these purposes?  I can't get my hands on either before buying them.  Is one a little stronger than the other?  One more whippy?

Appreciate any feedback... I'm also open to any other suggestions.

Adding the Addermine to the 852 you already have would cover pretty much every spinning rod application. I primarily use mine for horizontal drop shotting (dragging) but also use it for neko's, neds, small swimbaits, etc when I only bring a few rods with me. It has plenty of backbone but a softer tip than the 852 and is more versatile than the 822 (I have and use all 3 of those with the exception of my 822 being the syr- dsr is supposedly even "softer" than the syr).
