Featured Replies

Ok Florida guys a buddy and I are planning a bucket list trip to Lake Okeechobee. We need some advice on the best area to stay, guide services and best time of the year to come down to maximize our trip. Any help would be appreciated. And if I can a chance to meet some of you guys.

from now till the end of may is the best time.Roland Martins marina is a great place to stay. as far as guides check out Capt. Dave Schneider. he has a youtube channel. it's called, it's a guides life. great guy and knows the lake real well. also Steve Daniels is a great guy to. good luck........

The girls are roamin around looking for a nice place to bed, and will be for the next 6-7months.

Some have already found a nice place to stay.
This time of the year I like the North and East side, but that’s me.

There are a few motels in Okeechobee City that you can stay and fish out of Scott Driver, Okee-Tantie, Buckhead, Taylor Creek or J&S.
On the south end I would stay and fish out of Roland Martins place.

Do a search on here for guides.
A while back I listed a 1/2 dozen or so I personally fished with in tournaments and know personally.  Others have done the same.

Good Luck and have fun.

Looks like we are going to try and go the second week of February if I can get the dates locked in this week.

Lunch or dinner sounds good, anytime works for me just let me know.

Have a great time!

You’ll be fishing the south end which is the best place at the right time to get the fish of a lifetime.

Looking forward to a full report!!

Not great we caught about 15 in two days nothing over 3lbs but it was an enjoyable trip. We seen alot of beds but the big girls have moved out. The guide said he thinks the cold front pulled them off the beds.

I'm going to jump on here.  Found out last night that a good friend of mine has family that are building on/near Okeechobee.  Imagine it will be a year or two before they are in, but as you can imagine we're already scheming.

Starting my research early and appreciative of any general advice you might offer.  I will continue to post details of location as they play out.
