No, not at all!

For me anytime I make a fairly vertical presentation like punching I use it every time. 

I just mentioned punching because the majority of the time I’m flipping, as I enjoy that the most of all bottom contact presentations. 

When casting or even making long pitches I don’t think a snelled knot is as effective. 
For those I just use the Palomar.
