I posted earlier that I was looking to buy a new boat.  While searching craigslist I came across a "Jason" bass boat.  It is a 1986 model with a 75 hp mariner.  The guy said the motor needed some work, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Jason bass boats and if it would be a good buy.

They were an entry level boat, IIRC was built in KY.  As with a lot of entry level boats of that vintage, be very, very suspicious of the wood in that boat as far as the stringers and transom.  Those type of boats were usually built on the cheap and the methods of sealing wood in the hull and transom were often insufficient or they used none at all.

Check out the motor also. It could cost more than the rig is worth to repair in some cases.

I really appreciate the help.  I took a look at the boat and it was obvious that it was poorly made, and that it was not worth the time.  Well...Back to Craigslist!
