Alright i did some damage to my prop and i need to buy a new one, the guy at the boat store looked up the specs on my boat size and engine size and determined it would have to be an 11" prop with 19" pitch, but the one that was on there was 11" and 13", does any one have any idea which would be the best one. i Have an 1981 115hp mercury with straight cylinders and its on an 18'6" Astro Fish and Ski, i dont exactly know the weight of the boat but i will use it mostly for fishing not so much skiing. so if anyone has any clue or can help me out with this please let me know.

What kind of RPMs are your getting from your motor with your current prop? gaining 6" of pitch will lower your WOT RPM about 1200. you may not plane with the 19" prop

You have another alternative. Since Winter has arrived in your part of the country, just have yours repaired. You can use it again if it is the best for your application or have it as a spare if you get another one.

All right i checked my motors manual and it said the rpm for open throttle is between 5000-5500, and as for repairing the prop im sure it cannot be done, i did a number to it.

That is the maximum allowed. What is your motor turning?

You will be surprised what can be done to a broken prop. to get it like new. I have knocked of half of a blade and they made it look like new.

Your engine should be run at or near MAX RPM.

The outboard is designed to safely run wide open. 5500 +

Use the prop calculators and try to find a prop store that will let you try out the prop before you buy. Tempest Plus is a good brand.

You will need a GPS to determine your speed and a RPM gauge to measure your engine RPM to judge your performance.
