I have a 95 Evinrude 150 Intruder and will be runnin it on days that will be followed by possible freezing temps at night. It is stored outside and I always try to lower motor to drain water out of system when loading and was wondering if that was suffuicient. The question  is I have what is called a HVLP  (high volume low pressure) sprayer that puts out around 10psi and was considering hookin it up to my motor through the flush port to blow any remaining water out for the night. Would this cause any damage to any seals or whatnot that might be in the motor?

Wow, dude thats a pretty big question to trust with someone over the internet that may or may not know what they are talking about.  You need to call a certified mech. for your brand of engine right now and ask him.

You should be just fine without blowing it out which might cause other problems. Motors sit out all winter in very cold temperatures without problems. Just drain after each use. You might want to be sure you don't have in water in your lower unit.

We run boats into mid-Decmber up here when the temp gets in the twenties as night. As long as you are trimming and it down when it is stored most of the water will get out. No need to blow it all out. imo

Plus my dad has a 96 Evinrude Intruder 150 and just trims it down for the winter.

Thanks guys,   I know I had never had an issue with my previous motor but with my new rig I plan on lots more fishing later in the year. Just lowering and letting gravity take it's course sounds like it should be fine

Good suggestion! I was out last weekend with a friend whom as i was pulling him out he would leave the motor running for a second and blow excess water out and shut down. I fish alone 90% of the time so that would be difficult to do.

If you trim down and drain first, you will probably not get more water out by starting it. I have shut my kill switch off and just cranked the engine without starting and I never have gotten more water to come out after trimming down and draining.

I think trimming it down and checking the lower unit oil to make sure there is no water in there and you should be fine...

I guess you could wrap the motor with blankets like they do with sprinkler systems... ;D
