Hey everyone,

I am looking to plan a long weekend trip to clear lake CA in the spring with a buddy. He will be coming from Utah, and I will be joining from Michigan.

We're interested in renting a boat for some time while we are there. Does anyone have any recommendations for local shops or marinas that rent to the public? The results from google haven't been promising, hoping someone with local knowledge may be able to help out!

Any information on how to make this trip a success would be awesome.

Thanks!

sorry don’t know rentals, but have you considered hiring a guide?  It’s probably comparable in cost as it is in renting a decent boat.  It will help with the learning curve tremendously and probably get you better fish.  Clear lake in spring is a blast and depending on timing the spawn may be going on as they are different on the north and south end

+1 with the guide idea if you're not familiar with the lake. Almost everything looks good in the spring and you have a shot of hitting a home run on your first spot or striking out while other guys are saying the lake is hot. Ross England http://www.clearlakeguideservice.com/ is a long time guide on the lake, has a great reputation with very reasonable rates, and openly says he's more than happy to take people out on their first day at the lake and show them where and what to fish with for the rest of their trip (in their own boat). If you call him he should also be able to point you towards some potential rentals. Have a great trip!
