2018 Tatula Bass Rod Action comparison

Featured Replies

Hi all I’m new to fishing and bought a 7ft Daiwa Tatula Bass spinning rod (black Eva foam grip not the new cork ones) in a Med Power Fast action (1/8oz-3/4oz lure rating). Does this rod run pretty true to a Med power and would it be able to fish Ned rigs (1/15 oz heads) on with 15lb braid to 8lb leader? Thanks for the info!

Zero experience with that rod.  Also I try not to use a lure at either end of a rod's rating.  I have read that Daiwa rods usually tend to fish a bit heavy.  My guess is that rod is not going to give you much distance with 1/15 oz. heads.

I have an Aetos 7' MF spinning rod rated 1/16-3/4 oz. that has never had a reel on it.  I would be overjoyed if it actually handled that range.  I think 1/16 oz. is going to be a stretch.

If I recall correctly from other posts on here with a TRD on it you'll be close to 1/4 oz.

You will be able to fish the ned rig with that rod, but it is not ideal. You will be lacking distance on your cast due to the lure not being heavy enough to load the rod tip. You will also have to ensure that you are not setting the hook as you will likely bend out the hook with that rod. Make sure your drag is set nice and light, and just reel into it when you feel a bite and you should be good.
