Shimano Expride 6'8 MH Question

Featured Replies

  • Super User

First of all, this question might be pointless as I may just have to try it to decide for myself because I think some rods are just that way and some rods feel different to some people. That being said, if anyone owns this rod, what do you find it best suited for? I found a really good deal on one and plan to pair it with an SLX 70 mgl. Right now I am thinking maybe a bottom contact rod for 3/16 - 3/8 T-rigs or jigs. I usually use at least a 6'10 or longer for those types of techniques but I think this rod may handle it. Maybe for creek fishing? Skipping docks? Just trying to get an idea of what others may be using it for.

Thanks

Not exactly the same rod but I own an older green series 6’8” heavy/fast gloomis nrx which is really more like a mh or mh+ compared to other brands and contrary to the trend of fishing jigs on longer 7’+ rods I prefer the shorter length for jig fishing especially when targeting cover such as fishing around piers and docks, skipping and pitching accuracy is worth the trade off to me, I have a curado 71 on it and its like  a feather in the hand. Also like to use that setup for soft jerks either mojo rigged or with a weighted hook.
