Rod Taper & Action for 3-4” Finesse Jerk Shad

Featured Replies

I’m wanting to experiment with finesse shad/fluke style baits this year and am not sure what the rod would need to look like. I know I am going to get comments about spinning equipment but this will be a casting rod. I realize many will think I should use a spinning set up but please play along. Would a ML fast work for this presentation? Would I want more of a moderate fast? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I'd go with at least a Med power w/Fast Action, probably 6'6" to 7'. If you end to use the smaller flukes I feel a spinning setup would be best. But if you're using a larger bait a bait caster would be fine.
