Yeah I'm kind of excited, they make a good product, you here some horror story's no matter what the engine, but out of the big 3 their all pretty much the same each having some different small advantage over the other.

I heard the Optis are better on gas, but I heard th Etechs are unbelievable on oil consumption. Yammys are faster, there all good engines lemons come in all brands.

If I was going to buy a new DFI motor, the Etec is the only one I would even consider.    I actually like my old 99 Ficht.

I actually liked the Suzuki, my friend still has an old 150 that will not die, however the servicing was an issue. Were I'm going to be living has no dealership.

And I always thought they were heavier. as far as cheaper theres no way i could have got one cheaper then what i paid.

Suzuki's are supposed to be pretty good motors.......till they break.  Then try and find someone to work on it.

They really lack a solid service network countrywide and nobody else wants to touch them.

I have a 78 35hp Evinrude that runs like a top and starts everytime. That thing is bullet proof.

Yes TIN, the 99/2000 Ficht 200's/225's are actually very good motors (notice I got very specific about the size).  They are just too temprimental for the average user and they require a rather expensive upgrade to the ECM by an aftermarket company.  The injectors in those older ones are so sensitive, if you let them sit for three or four months they are subject to slow down or stick, leaning the motor out and burning a piston.  I got mine dirt cheap about five years ago because of this.  I had the $750 upgrade done to the ecm and all six injectors serviced and calibrated.  I keep a small external tank with about a gallon of gas and 2oz of SeaFoam.  I let it run for about 15 minutes every couple of weeks if it's going to sit for more than a month.  Five years and never had a minutes trouble, gets great fuel milage and uses very little oil.

I just upgraded to a 2000 225 ficht .  I could not believe the difference in fuel and oil over my Johnson 200 GT.
