New Tatula Elite vs Old Shimano Aldebaran

Featured Replies

in the market for a new reel for my 6'7" MH Falcon Lowrider or 7'2" MH Lowrider (depends on the reel I select). Beefier rod is for swim jigs, will be spooled with 20 lb saguaro invisx or tatsu. this is too much line for an Aldebaran. Other rod is for smaller ruction baits and the occasional small finesse jig or senko, kind of a lighter all purpose setup. Will be spooled with 20 lb braid and leader.

- I can get either reel for ~ $200. Whichever rod does not get the new reel will be getting my 7.2:1 Shimano Casitas. I like the Aldebaran in a 6.5:1 on the smaller rod, seems like a really lightweight and good setup.

What do you think?

I think it’s splitting hairs, but the new Tatula Elite will do just fine imo. I’m a Daiwa guy, I’ve fished a lot of high end reels including an Aldebaran 2016 or 2017 model, Chronach MGL, Bantam MGL, and so forth. Daiwa is my choice and they do the job well also very consistent from reel to reel in terms of setting up.

Tatula Elite. I don't like the older model Aldebaran, the new one is much improved. Also, I prefer the Tatala Elite for that task.

im realizing the 20 lb floro on the Aldebaran will be an issue.

will probably put the Aldebaran on the smaller rod, and get one of the reels below for the swim jig rod.

Have eliite and SV, I'd pick the elite for that.
