It's been a tough winter here in Socal when my son and I only have a few hours to fish and spots are limited.  I guess I feel more bad for him since the guy just loves LMB fishing.  The look on his face and excitement is like no other.  Like most days just to beat the skunk we bring some shrimp along.  This was the biggest thing from last week. LOL

 

 

That's a successful day for me if it's the only fish.

That is cool. if you can, surf perch fishing is cool and pretty close to bass fishing. 

I call it a success, many time I went out for those gills and came home empty handed.

It is not just about the size and species, it is about technique, gear and bait intended to catch them. 
I didn’t down size just to catch more bass but I spent money on those gears just for them panfish.

The bass in your area should be in prespawn mode already, Don’t target too deep and soak the bait longer (senko is good bait to soak)

Many of the suburban parks in your area have small lakes/ponds with bass in them. They may be tough to catch, especially during daylight hours (hint, hint) but some nightcrawlers can help as it's easier to feed em than it is to fool em.
