Powerton Lake IL

Featured Replies

Looking to go to Powerton this Sunday. Temp is supposed to be 65 degrees with 15 to 25 mph winds SSW. I know lake faces north/south. I’ve had good luck on east end of lake. Is 15 to 25 mph winds too much on boat?

i also heard the  dam Broke a couple years back. Went three years ago in April and caught only catfish. Went 6 years ago and caught tons of Smallmouth in February. Wondering if it’s worth going Sunday!? Thanks ?

The wind might be too high. The one in LaSalle they shut down at 15mph I think. I know some people that go to powerton but all they do is catfish.

I go to LaSalle a lot live near there. I don’t know if they close Powerton at certain winds but I’m sure anything over 15 is very difficult to take a boat on. I agree they close boat launches at LaSalle for anything over 15. Yeah hopefully the winds go down a bit
