Upgrading Fishfinder

Featured Replies

Hey guys, Winter is coming to a close and the yearly BPS spring classic is this weekend. I was thumbing through the ad and noticed some steep discounts on fishfinders that look to be old models. It has got me thinking about an upgrade. The top three brands were all represented Lowrnace, Garmin, and Hummingbird. I fish from kayak so it might sound overkill but I am looking for a 7" screen w/ mapping and sidescan. Which brand would you chose?

I have a Helix 5 and 7.  Both are DI/SI units.  I use the 5 more often than the 7 on my Hobie.  The screen on the 7 is nice, but I don't need it to be that big, considering the viewing distance.
