Which dobyns fury?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone wondering which dobyns fury casting rod is more versatile. The 734 or 735, I’m debating which to grab before TW ends their sale

I would say the 734 is the one most people say is the most versatile.  I only have the 734 of the two so I don't have an opinion on the 735.  I use my 734 for chatterbaits and spinners mostly, but wouldn't have a problem using it for T rigs, jigs, and multiple other techniques.  I bought my little brother one the other day with the sale and it should be showing up to his door some time today as a surprise for his birthday.  Hope he likes it as much as I do!!!

Depends on what you are throwing.

I have both. The 734 gets a lot more use.

The 735 is a nice rod for pitching into cover.

A little heavy for casting in my opinion.

The 734 is a good rod for most anything else except finesse baits.

Any Dobyns 4 power will be more versatile than any 5 power rod for bass fishing.

Out of the 734 models, the 734 Fury is the least versatile of them all because it has the fastest tip. Gary Dobyns has even said that the Colt 734 is better than the Fury 734 for everything, but jig fishing. The 703 and 733 might be more versatile in the Fury series, but it's limited to probably about 1/2 oz or under baits.
