My Jig Rods - Need Advice

Featured Replies

Caught my first bass of 2020 this year the other day on a flipping jig, the bait I am determined to learn to fish this year. As I begin this process, please tell me what bottom lures you'd Throw on these rods.

1. 7'0" MH XF St. Croix Avid X, 8.2:1 Shimano Curado 70, 15 lb Seaguar Invisx

Wobble Heads (3/8-1/2), Texas Rigs (3/8-1/12), Jigs (3/8-1/2)

2. 7'1" MH XF 13 Fishing Muse Black, no reel at the moment

will serve as a spare rod for combo #1

3. 7'2" MH MF Falcon Lowrider, 7.2:1 Shimano Casitas, 12 lb Seaguar Invisx (uppgrading to 17lb soon)

Primarily a Swim Jig (1/4-3/4) rod

4. 7'3" H MF Falcon Jason Christie, 7.3:1 Quantum Smoke PT, 30 lb Power Pro

Pitching Jigs (1/4-1/2) into cover, Buzzbaits (3/8-1/2), 4.8" Weighted Keitechs (1/8-3/16)

5. 7'6" H Dobyns Champion XP, 8.1:1 Daiwa Tatula Elite, 65 lb braid or 20 lb floro (not sure yet)

Flipping Rod (duhhh). Just ordered, never even tried real flipping.

I am really trying to build my confidence with lure on the bottom besides drop shot. I find that most of my lakes are covered in slimy milfoil and suck that sticks to any lure on the bottom. I have outlined my plan of what lures go on what rods. If you have any advice, please share. I am open to moving all the reels except the Quantum around!
