trolling motor new or used

Featured Replies

hey guys im setting up my boat for crappie and bass. Im wanting a minn kota with spot lock. Im looking for a 70 to 80lb thrust 24v. my question is would I be better off buying a new motor or trying to save some money and buying used. ive read some years of spot lock weren't that great. id hate to buy a used one to save some money and not like it. So what's your opinion buy new or save some money and buy used. thanks

Spot lock was improved in 2016 or 2017. I have a 2014 era motor and I don't find fault with it, although I really don't use it that much. Spot lock is fine for some situations but I prefer the cruise control option when fishing in current.
