Gemini Bass Boats?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I am still looking to find my first boat.  I thought I had one, a 94 Nitro but it sold the day before I called to make my offer on it.  >:D I have about $5000 I can spend but if I can find something cheaper that is fine.  I will use the money on new fishing gear!   :)

Anyways, I have found this Gemini Bass Boat that is pretty close to my house and when I get back from my trip I am going to go look at it.  I looked it up on NADA and there are only 4 listed years of boats.  What happened to this company?  How was there quality?

"1989 18 foot Gemini bass boat with center console, 90 horse merc with 24 volt motor guide trolling motor with 68 pounds of thrust, two eagle fish finders, two large live wells, two rod lockers, two dry storage lockers, new batteries for the trolling motor, new on board charger and live well pump. Trailer has new tires bought last year, new bearing buddies last year and a new surge break in 2005. Currently winterized for the season."

What happened to this company?

Out of business.

How was there quality?

Obviously not good enough to keep them in business.

I vaguely remember that boat brand.  It almost looks like they splashed an old Procraft hull and stuck their own cap on it.  That's a wood constructed boat so be very, very careful and thoroughly check the floors, decks and especially transom.

Not trying to be a ball buster, and I may be wrong, but I think with most anything when you've never heard of the maker it's either really good or really bad. Also think about parts availabilty and stuff down the road.

I'd let that one past because parts and service knowledge will be limited.

5 K is a good amount to spend on a first boat.  Keep looking.  There should be more for sale soon in the spring

Thanks guys.  I may just go and take a look since it is pretty close to me and it will help pass the time to spring.   ;D

Good luck in your hunt for a boat. My dad has a 17' 9" Gemini, I think it's a 90 model and we have fished out of it for about the last 15 years on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. It has an older model 70hp Javelin motor on it. We have always enjoyed the boat and never had any major problems out of it, other than replacing the steering cable, which was quite a chore. The boat runs great and is very stable on the water. Dad has no regrets on purchasing the boat and is not currently looking to replace it anytime soon. Hope this was helpful.
