New BC, how to pick line

A 6.3:1 ratio to me means crankbait or bottom contact. I don't use flouro, but if I did, 12#-14# and either fill the reel or half-fill with some cheap mono (Berkley Big Game is what I use for backing) and the rest with the flouro.

So a 12 pound - 14 pound fluoro?

How long though?

I just get a big spool of 10# Berkley Big Game and use that as backing no matter what line I put on top of it. 50# or 30# braid, 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid or 10# mono...the backing doesn't have to match the top line as under normal use you'll never get that far into the spool. If you do reach the knot where the backing attaches to the main line, cut at the knot and re-spool new main line.

How long?
