If you are interested in the Humminbird SIDE IMAGING units and want expert knowlege of that technology, go the Yahoo and sign up with the Side Imaging Group. HB reps and users discuss everything about it.

Bottom Line had a unit that was called sidefinder and Lowrance will be introducing a Side Scan add-on for the HDS units this summer.

    Honestly, I would get the Lowrance HDS system. The 2D sonar has far better clairity than the Humminbird, and now they are going to add the Side Scan on it, which can be added at anytime. If you are going to spend 2k on a system, go with the HDS 8.

    Get the Humminbird.  They just put out an update to enhance their downlooking sonar and further improved the side imaging.  There is no set date for Lowrance's product yet.
