I’m using 4” shiners for largemouth. And doing pretty good today, but lost a good number too. I’m thinking my hooks may have been just a tad small for the thick shiners. 
 

I was using a 3/0 gama drop shot hook. Maybe going to a larger Octopus hook would work better, what do you guys think?

Ive always used either 3/0 or 4/0 circle hooks with complete success. You can just hook them better and easier with the circle hooks.

Ended up getting the Owner Mutu Light(NON offset) 3/0.
