I was able to get out fishing twice this weekend and with the rivers being higher than I like to deal with on the kayak, aka not in the mood for a lot of paddling, I decided to hit two smaller "rivers".  The first one I was searching for smallies mainly and explored a stretch I hadn't been on before.  I ended up paddling about 2 miles upstream and fished along the way.  I decided to stop at a waterfall area rather than haul my kayak up it...save that for next time I guess.  I ended up catching a couple smallies, a few spots, a trophy sized fallfish and a bunch of sunnies.  These small streams always produce something and you never really know what you will catch.  Nothing big this trip but it was a great day nonetheless.

yesterday we went peach, strawberry and blueberry picking and got home around 4 so i decided i would get out to another local swampy type river that has largemouth, spots (learned that yesterday), bowfin, pickerel and sunnies.  Was able to fish for about 3 hours or so and the water was high and chocolate milk pretty much.  I started out throwing streamers like normal but they weren't producing so I decided given the high water and low visibility they probably would be tight to cover and have difficulty finding the flies.  I tied on a big deer hair popper and tried making a big splat as tight to the shore as I could and then let it sit.  Turned out that was the right move as I started picking up fish.  I ended up catching 9, nothing big but it is kind of rare to catch anything over a couple pounds out there but it can happen.
