Frog Rod Question

Featured Replies

Hey BassResource...
I’ve been getting into frog fishing lately, and was wondering if A 7ft MH Abu Garcia Vendetta paired with an Abu Garcia Pro Max (7:1:1) would be a strong enough setup to pursue frogging in, or if I should get heavier setup. I plan to be fishing around wood, lily pads, and thicker cover.

i'd go with a heavy rod paired with some 65lb braid especially if you're going to be around pads and heavy grass. the MH would be fine for more open water with a popping frog of some sort

A MH can do the job.  If you are strapped for cash and need a do it all rod, either find a decent MH rod, daiwas run heavier than they say, or get a heavy with soft tip that you can use for other applications. I have a dedicated frog/heavy top water rod, that I have grabbed in a pinch for jigs or HEAVY T RIGS FOR PUNCHIN.
