Powerlux differences 300,500,1000?

Featured Replies

I noticed abu garcia and fenwick use powerlux 500 in their top model spinning rods (world class, fantasista) and power lux 300 in their model below that (techna, veracity). And power lux 1000 in fly fishing rods. Anyone know the differences and the affects or characteristics of each resin?

Pretty sure 300, 500, and 1000, have to do with the percentage of silica content. 3M Matrix resins have different designations based on the amount of the nanoparticles, as well as cure cycles, viscosity, and a bunch of other variables. Don't quote me as I haven't used that particular resin, but thinking 1000 means more silica, less resin. So it's just as strong without the added weight.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. Wonder what each versions have to do with rod characteristics. I emailed fenwick see if they have an explanation on it. still waiting to hear back
