Lowrance Hook 12 series verse Elite 12 series

Featured Replies

Any opinions on the difference between a 12 inch Lowrance Hook 2 12 and the Elite 12 ti2?  Is the upgrade worth it?  Big difference from description seems to be wifi and bluetooth capabilities.  Is the side imaging quality the same?   GPS charts same?  Thank you!

The quality of the DI and SI is much better on the elite ti2. I had a hook and replaced it with a elite ti2 and it is worlds better. Also, there are more settings that you can adjust on the ti2 to dial in your images. The hook you just sort of run it how it is. Its worth the extra money but if you already have the hook, it may not be worth it to replace it. The hook works, but the elite is just better.  The hds is better yet. Next year something better will be out. Its a slippery slope!

Also, the mapping is the same. I had a navionics card that came with the hook and just put it in the elite. It looks the same. The only real difference is the sonar plus on navionics. That is where the mapping updates based on real world use from navionics users. So the more people with navionics on a lake, the more accurate the maps will be. It uploads everybodys data and updates the maps. With the eliteti2, when i pull into the house, the unit automatically hooks to wifi and updates itself. With the hook i would have had to take the card out and put it in a computer. Of course i never did.

I just upgraded from the Hook2 to Elite Ti2. I'd opt for the Elite just for the touchscreen. I think that setting waypoints is much easier if you can just touch the screen when you see something you want to mark. Also, the imaging just seems to be better.
