I tried to do some due diligence to get myself educated, but I'm now more confused than ever. How many different variations are there anyway? Those two reels look similar if not identical, and both are 2020 model as far as I can tell. Why is there a $$ difference then? Calling Shimano experts! 

I believe to BB version is aluminum 

The $500 version is magnesium 

There is also a CI4+ version also.

The magnesium version is suppose to be Stella like in performance

So, if I understand you correctly, difference in $$ is just an outer shell? Hmm...

There is probably some internal differences too.

But I'm not a exsence owner so I'm not sure what those might be.

I'm sure the $500 has shared Stella technology.

I believe the CI4+ version was pretty much a blacked out stradic ci4+.

This new BB version looks to be based off the current Sustain body. Probably much shared with the Sustain too.
