Pulse Jigs Scrounger question

Featured Replies

Does anyone use these? I am wondering how they compare to other scroungers.

While I haven't fished every scrounger head on the market,

I've fished several.

Most of them are 'OK'.

However my choice for performance & quality is right here

all the others were something less - in every respect.

I have the Jenkos. The hooks are pretty big, but they are definitely good scroungers. I guess I want making looking for something with a smaller overall profile once you pick a swim bait to match. AJ, what is your favorite trailer on a 3/4 ounce Tremor Head?

I fish the 3/8 and the 1/2 head the most.

Rarely go heavier.

I do not prefer a swimbait or action type trailers on a scrounger head.

The head has plenty of inherent action on it's own,

so I just want the trailer to take a ride & benefit / transmit some of it.

The swim Senko is about as close as I come.

Here's a few favorite trailers

I fish these almost exclusively right on the bottom.

Rarely a constant retrieve.

A slow pump up off the bottom,

lifting the bait only a foot or less and then letting the bait fall back on a semi-tight line is BY FAR The Most productive presentation for me.

Sometimes it's crazy good.

When the head weight and trailer are matched properly, the bait will wiggle & swim back to the bottom.

The Long bill works best for me for this and the trailers can not be too big or they will numb the fall back action too much.  Kills the Magic.

I always check it boat side for the proper fall.

Also the 'bills' can get twisted on the head which will jack up the action but they can easily be hand 'tuned' by just twisting the bill back in line with the line tie.

Like any deal it needs to be 'straight'.
