Transducer help please?

Featured Replies

I put a Humminbird GPS unit on my bow of my Skeeter last year and I like it so much I want to put one on my console to replace the junk Bottom Line unit that came with the boat. The transducer for the Bottom Line is mounted in the inside of my hull in silicone and it seems to work fine. I am wondering if anyone knows if I can just use any Humminbird transducer to pass through the bottom of my boat? I know they have a thru hull transducer but I refuse to drill any kind of hole in the fiberglass. Can I just silicone the thru hull transducer to the inside of the hull? Thanks Guys!

If you epoxy it in the sump area in the rear where the bilge pump and drain hole is, it should work just fine. You can even put the skimmer Xducer there but I would get the round, puck style designed to go on the bottom of the TM.

A quick check can be made by making a small mound with putty or something, filling it with water, place the Xducer in it, and place something on it to hold it down. If it works to you likings, epoxy it in place.

Way2slow has the right idea .... stir the epoxy slow .... you don't want any bubbles

Thank you men!

I am just wandering about the epoxy. Lowrance says in their manual to use their epoxy on their transducers. Is this necessary? Won't any marine epoxy work?
