Mississippi River- Pool 5a

Featured Replies

Is anyone familiar with Mississippi River pool 5a (or pool 5).  Looking for somewhere different to launch the boat around there so I can find a few spots where the kids can catch some panfish and I might have a chance at a decent bass.

Thanks in advance!

Never fished pool 5 or 5a before.  I have found some great bluegill fishing on pool 4 before though.

Just saw this, I fish pool 4 mostly but have some experience around there as well, shoot me a PM

Yea I remember you now, pepin has already been putting out some great pike and smallmouth for my lately, should only get better in the next month or two. Been also doing well for smallmouth and eyes on wing dams on the river around wabasha, catching both in the same areas on smaller swimbaits and cranks.

I've gotta find some time one of these weekends to branch out a bit..... I don't know much about the area I'm in (5a/6) but I'd like to get up towards Wabasha more- Pepin is about a 50 minute drive for me.  I'm also really interested in checking out pool 7 between Dresbach and lacrosse....that's right up the road and I've been watching some MLF/Bass Pro tour stuff from that section lately...
