Whopper Plopper: Bass pattern..

I just had to post this because I made a bait that I gave a 50-50 chance of working and it did and nicely. It's a whopper plopper. My first one. The video below has how I built it and shows it's cool 'plopping' in action in the water. Really happy with this one.

This is your best one yet! Sounds just like the "real thing." Nicely done. Great looking pattern too.

Thnx... it did turn out pretty good. No one is more surprised than me.

I forwarded the video to my brother, he has been making baits from balsa for about a year now.  He does pretty good with it, still learning and still messing with ways to make things better.  He said you did an awesome job and you need to post more videos of baits you are making.  He is going to attempt the plopper now that he has seen your video!  Keep up the good work!

I have a bunch of them posted on the thread about "show off your work".

Yeah he and I both realized after I posted that, you have a bunch on your YouTube channel!  So we both hit the subscribe button!  He does a pretty good job on his baits, and he loves learning new things!

That is just fantastic.  I admire the heck out of the ability to achieve this level of craftsmanship.  Bravo!

Good work, I used make pencil poppers cigar shape with spinners but only painted them white and red could not do paint work very well

what kind of wood is best

I don't know what wood is best. Almost all my lures are made of white pine or cedar. Just stuff around the shop. Cedar is a left over deck board. They are 1" thick so give me a good width to start from. A lot of people use balsam but I is not fun to work with. Ya, it sands super easy but it tears out and is fuzzy when you sand it. The other woods are still light and easy to work with but they are solid when you work with them.
