pond prowler what type of an anchor

Featured Replies

i bought a 9 ft pond prowler from bps and was wondering what my options are to keep getting blown around from the wind . would a mushroom anchor work and if so ,would i need one for the front and one for the back or would one of those drift socks be better. thanks in advance.

I have a 10lb mushroom for my 10ft Pelican and it works just fine in winds up to around 20 mph.  After that you'll start to skid some.  I only have one, I wouldn't think you would need two unless you are wanting to position your boat a particular way.   I dont really like the mushrooms though, they seem to hold alot more mud than the grapple types do.

Get 10 lbs mushroom and the drift sock, the anchor is to anchor the boat in a semi ( 1 ) or stationary ( 2 ) position, the drift sock is to drift at slow speed, so they are both different animals. Also I recommend you get a couple of Brush Grips, very handy tool for sunken brush/tree rich lakes, you can clamp the boat to a limb.

I have a mushroom anchor that's probably 10 lbs. Works great in pretty much anything up to about 20mph winds like the guy above said. Very satisfied with it.
