Pegging weight question

Featured Replies

When you guys peg a weight with a bobber stopper for pitching, flipping and punching do you put the stopper directly up against the weight or leave it a 1/4” or so away from the top of the weight so the weight can move back and forth a little ?

I usually put it against the weight the bobber stop will slide Up when you get a fish.

I want no movement at all, especially when punching.
If there is any room the bait will pivot up and fall against the line.

If I don’t get hit on the fall and then  work it either on the bottom or the underside of the mat before I pull it up, the bait can get caught on stems and then spiral up.

The one problem I’ve had with my rig is when I’m fishing a pit boss with an EWG hook  and 3/8-1/2oz weight the weight constantly slides to the side even if I peg it right up against the bait, the weight causes the knot to slide to one side so the weight lays not straight against the bait if you understand what I’m saying
