NEED quick help!

Featured Replies

Im in college and looking for MY first bass boat and have heard very mixed reviews on basstrackers. I found a used tracker im goin to look at today and need some help and advice PLEASE!!! What are your experiences with basstrackers or thoughts on them? Do they last long? etc. This investment i'll need to make last a long time.

The BassTracker is a 2001 17'

Mercury 25hp 4 stroke w/ tilt--- says he's used less than 100 gal of gas because he has a pontoon and lost interest in the tracker.

Never have owned one but I hear they fish very well and are setup good.. and from what I can tell they last a long time.  A 25 horse on a 17 footer seems a little under powered.  If you are making this a long term investment you would do yourself a favor to get a little bigger motor, but the 4 stroke is nice.  I would want at least a 40 or 50 on that thing if you fish waters of any size.

As long as it was cared for it should be a good boat.  That 25hp motor is rather underpowered for a hull that size.

I have a 2005 Tracker PTX 175. Its 17'6" and powered by a 25hp merc 2 stroke. great fishing boat, and holds up very well, very easy to tow, launch and retrieve. yes that 25hp is underpowered, but as with my boat. that 25hp is because of HP limited lake. I know many guys that have 17-17'6" trackers with 20hp-25hp on them and love them. like I said, its for hp limited lakes. However I will fish it on any water. It runs 23mph (on GPS) with just me, 2 guys and I get 19mph. Livewell full and tournament load with 2 guys and 17-18mph.

I never really liked trackers and heard all kinds of bad thing about older ones. My father-inlaw and I went halfs on this boat in 2005 and I am glad I did. I love it. great boat. If you get it you will love it. great started boat
