YakAttack thru hull wiring kit silicone?

Featured Replies

I'm installing a YakAttack's thru hull wiring kit on my yak and the instructions say:

"We recommend applying silicone to the grommets around the wires and in between the two halves for added water protection."

Do they mean silicone sealant or silicone lubricant? Hull is polyethylene and the wiring mount is ABS so I guess I don't need to worry about it being too permanent. How have y'all installed yours? Sealant, lubed or dry?

Sealant -  you're trying to prevent water from getting through.
