Susquehanna River Smallmouth

Featured Replies

I live in SE PA and I'm gonna make my first trip the the lower Susquehanna next week. Just curious if anyone knows if the bite has picked up at all transitioning from summer into early fall.

Thanks!

All I know is I'm waiting for my guide near Hershey PA to tell me when there is enough water depth to go out. Right now, no.

This year has been a mess out there.  So many people partying, camping and leaving all their trash behind.  I only got out there twice this past summer, but both times there were so many people on the water it was almost pointless.  The pressure was just crazy, crazy high.  With tubing season closed, I think things will greatly improve.  Planning on making the jaunt out there sometime next month myself.  I'll report back if anything happens.

I've been having the same exact problem.  The public parks that I fish have just been hammered, so I've had to downsize significantly: Ned Rigs and Rooster Tails have been the only thing working all year

Topwater bite has started to pick up since the water temps started dropping, wake baits and poppers. This was last week when temps first started dropping.

I went out two days ago and the water levels were very low. Tried fishing around rapids around boulders and no luck. Went up to Port Jervis NY on the Delaware and did well. Just trying to learn river smallmouth patterns more as I've spent most of my life chasing LMB in ponds and lakes.
