Hey guys, I'm new to the area and I'm in need of a little help. I'm in the Morris IL area (that's where I'd put in), and I don't know anything about the river here. Is it decent for bass fishing? Are there any dangers in this stretch of river I need to know about? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow no replies. I grew up fishing the Illinois river but I still can't really help. We used to fish the area around Starved Rock for the sauger and white bass runs. I never fished it for smallmouth or largemouth.

If I were still in the area I wouldn't hesitate to go out looking for smallmouth.

As far as hazards I don't remember anything specific but it's a river so it has the same general hazards of any river. There are areas of strong current and there are a lot of ways to get yourself in trouble. Of course there is the ever present risk of hitting a log or rock with your boat or motor.

Thanks MGF.

I was hoping for a bit more help from others, but...

I've fished the Mississippi at Pepin Wisconsin a number of times so I know the general hazards of a river. I'm going to put in at Morris and head toward Starved Rock. I'll just start hitting spots that look good as I go. Thanks for your input.
