Lew's custom black combo?

Featured Replies

Does anybody have this combo and what do you think of it? Is it worth picking one up I'm thinking about buying one thanks!

They are on sale right now as the new version is out. The difference is the new custom black baitcaster now has the P2 pinion bearing.

The combo is a good one at full price. It pairs the TP1 Black speed stick with a dual brake aluminum framed baitcaster. If you can get it on sale its a great combo.

$235 is about $30 off of the price I usually see.

I would spool that reel with 10-12# Berkley Big Game mono or 20-30# braid depending on what I was fishing for.

I’m very new to baitcasters and bass fishing. I got the Lew’s Xfinity SLP speed spool from Walmart about a month ago, and I just got custom black combo with the 7’ medium, moderate fast action rod (Xfinity came with a medium heavy, fast action so I wanted a different one) a couple days ago. To me (a newbie), the custom black is very smooth. Being a rookie, I’ve had a few backlashes, but I’m still working on my technique. I’m using Berkley smooth casting 14#.
