Light weight plastics rod?

Featured Replies

Hey guys I'm looking for a new spinning rod for my smallie outings. Right now I'm using my 6'8 m/xf mojo bass which has become my tube and light weight plastics rod (1/8 usually weight plus bait) I love it for the most part. The thing is i would like something just a tad bit longer (6'10-7) due to the fact the water is usually clear. I was thinking stick with medium action but want something that will transmit dragging tubes and plastics a little more. Granted my mojo was made for wacky rigs. I would like to keep it to spinning rod and let's set the budget at 200. I was looking at the Sierra and also the shimano zodias but am open to suggestions.

Would have to wait for a sale, but the 7' Med Lt + ALX Zolo Maestro.  I don't have any of their spinning rods, but really like the 3 casting rods I have.  Between the Sierra and Zodias, I would go for the 7' MF Zodias based not on actual experience, but on posts I've read.  Unfortunately that is how I have had to buy most of my rods....based on opinions of others.  Which is not a bad thing.  Should be able to weed out the bad rods.

Shimano Expride 7'0 Medium would be $224 on Black Friday at Tackle Warehouse.

See that's always the issue luckily I do have one tackle shop close by sft that carries a good amount of brands. I do know they have the shimano I'm looking at and I think maybe dobyns. I also saw a dobyns champ xp on Alf in the pre ownes for right around the price tag

I really like my Avid rods. I’ve been fishing a few ML and Med. versions for years now. Just soft plastics. Haven’t self covered real well.

I fish other rods with the split grip, and if I’m bouncing around it does not bother me or do I notice anything. I do not own an Avid X. Why? I don’t know.
