Hey folks, just scored a 1969 Evinrude 6hp fisherman motor to replace my 3hp. Was wondering if the 6hp will plane the boat with 2 people?

    no. I had a 6hp johnson and a 12 foot starcaft and even with one person in it it will not plane it out. just not enought power

    Nope, but Evinrude/Johnson motors from that time frame were great. My friend had a '69 Johnson and I had a '71 Evinrude, both 6hp

    Well it definitely doesn't plane! It does however beat the 3hp Johnson I had on there. Thanks for your help! Would anyone happen to know what spark plugs this thing takes? The champion website lists the plugs as RJ8C. Anyone know for sure? I don't want to ruin my 'new' motor!
