Im looking  to add about 6ft to the wire of my tm, I bought an extension kit from MK but it appears to be for the charger /battery, its 12G, if I use it will I loose to much juice or should I go thicker, and if so what gauge?

8 gauge minimum 6 gauge would be ideal. do not use the 12 gauge.

i just did this with my TM.  i used 6ga wire, from home depot, they should have black and red.  i used gurndy (sp?) nuts to make the splices.  they are kinda high, about $5 for two at home depot as well.  then i taped everything with electrical tape, then liquid electrical tape, then i wrapped it with the heavy rubber roofing tape that the roofer guys use when they do our roofs at work.  the splices can sit right in water in the bottom of my boat and they are fine.

A guy I worked with used an old heavy duty drop cord, one of the orange ones, and just hooked black to black and white to red and left the ground wire as is. As far as I know it worked great, he said he had been running it that way for a few years.
