Schumacher Battery Charger

Featured Replies

Ok here it goes. I bought one off of ebay for $26 brand new. I received it and it worked the first 4 or 5 times so I ordered another for $26. Got the other one and the connection light is red and the charging light is green. So I disputed the transaction and he said he will send me another. So he sent me another and the same thing happened. Now the first one will not tick up and will not shut off when the battery is charged. Any advice. This is frustrating. Also does anyone have any suggestions for battery chargers? DEPENDABLE CHARGERS.

My first battery charger was a Schumacher.  I got it around 33 years ago when I got my first boat.   It was rusting out towards the end but still, never failed to charge a battery.  It probably lasted 20 years till I accidently backed over it with the truck.  Bought another one, I still have it after 13 years.  Never fails to charge a battery.  I recently bought another one, an SC1200.  Works great, 12amp max charge.

Probably about one of the most reliable, cheap chargers you can buy. Thousands of people have been using them for a long, long time but it's not a good charger to use on a regular basis to keep your TM batteries or any other battery you are constantly discharging and charging. None of those type chargers are designed for that type use. They just commit your battery to a slow death because they will never fully charge the battery.

As for you're particular problem, have you ever considered maybe the battery is no good. No charger on this planet can charge a bad battery.

Out of the three chargers one will charge the batteries. The batteries still are fine. I don't know what a bad battery would mean, but they have been running my electronics and TM all season so far (probably 25-30 trips).

cart that is the exact model of the chargers I purchased. Ebay for 25 bucks a piece, great deal if they work!

way2slow what charger do you recommend to charge and discharge?

Perhaps try to buy a charger from a reputable dealer.

I agree. Sometimes those "to good to be true" deals really are just that. It was hard to pass up a brand new charger for $25 I think they retail around $50+.

I've seen the SC1200's on ebay for that price, they're usually advertised as reconditioned.

I got mine off of Ebay but paid around $45 shipping included.  $45 is about what they sell for in Walmart.  I've had no problem charging any of my batteries to 100% with it since I got it over the winter.

My old old Schumacher was becoming untrustworthy so I bought one of these Vectors. I LOVE it. Has Smart circuitry to charge properly and at the apprpriate level of charge. Shop around. You want one that can charge at 30 amps, then reduce down to a trickle.
