Anyone using a Victron IP65 charger for their batteries?
I’ve been using this charger for my kayak 12v 100ah battery (I run a Xi3 trolling motor on the kayak). I recently bought a 12v 12aH for my Garmin 9v. The Victron charges at 10 amps which seems high. Is there a way to set up a lower current ‘profile’ so I can switch forth between batteries? I haven’t been able to find any good documentation or forum to dive into the deeper features of this thing.

Latest,Rods & Reels Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Picked up a Lew’s Custom Lite 200 size spinning reel on closeout for $37 at my local Dick’s. My first Lew’s. Gonna spool it up with 6lb something, thinking of a newer kinda braid but I haven’t kept up with all the new advancements…..

Recs for waders
Never owned a set of waders but plan to start more cool weather wader fishing. I’m assuming I’m going to find a wide spread of pricing and not sure which features are worth upselling myself on. Should I just get something relatively inexpensive at Dicks or should I look for something better somewhere else?

Anyone running a Garmin Striker 9sv? (Sidevu)
My Garmin 9sv has been a nice upgrade over my smaller Striker 4. I got it mainly for Sidevu. I have tried adjusting the contrast and brightness up/down but everything is still pretty grainy which makes the fish blend into the background. I asked for help on a Garmin Facebook forum but few have that unit so didn’t get any helpful responses. I do see things on Sidevu like bottom structure (rocks, trees) and bait balls but the only obvious fish returns are in the black directly under the boat. Just wondering if I’m overlooking a setting that can help. I’ve tried different pallets but all still seem to not show any fish well.

New Daiwa Legalis 2000 spins slow with anti-reverse on
Used my new Legalis 2000 spinning reel for the first time today. During retrieves it started to crank slowly like something wasn’t rotating smoothly. Removed and replaced the spool and handles, gave each bearing under the handle a drop of oil and still doing it. I then noticed it cranked freely when I flipped the anti-reverse lever off, and the un-smoothness returned when I turned it back on. What is the likely culprit given this observation?

2023 Legalis ordering?
I see multiple references saying that ordering a 2023 model of the Legalis LT has to be direct from Japan like a JDM company or Amazon Japan. But the regular US Amazon shows a ‘2023 Legalis’ and I’m not sure if these are actually the same thing. Also debating between a 1000s or a 2000s as a I heard it was the same size body. I’m interested in a wider spool to help with casting ultralight lures.

Who makes a nice 750 size spinning reel?
I bought a 1000 size Daiwa Fuego and a 1000 Shimano Miravel for panfishing - both excellent reels. But I have a couple rods that would balance better with a 750 size reel. Who makes something of similar quality/price as the Fuego/Miravel but in a 750 size?

Greasing handle paddles riveted on
Is there a specific packaging or brand that I can buy somewhere common like Walmart or an auto parts store?

Greasing handle paddles riveted on
In my experience oil only lasts a short time. The grease is thick enough to float the paddle around the stem

Greasing handle paddles riveted on
I have a Daiwa Legalis 1000 with a non-removable handle paddle that needs grease. It has too much room and makes small clicking noises and I can feel it like a small fish strike. Normally I add some grease under the paddle to help float it and smooth it out but this Legalis must be too cheap and doesn’t have a screw to remove the paddle. Any suggestions to help push/flow some grease down into it?

Entry level swimbaits resembling crappie?
What is the difference between a swim bait and glide bait? Sorry, old school here and don’t buy a lot of new fancy baits.

Entry level swimbaits resembling crappie?
Can I get recommendations for entry level (meaning inexpensive) swimbaits that resemble crappie? I want to target some big bass I’ve seen following crappie I have pulled up. There is no shad forage in this reservoir (Virginia) but it also has yellow perch and bluegill. These might be thrown for Musky too. Unfortunately there is a lot of grass. I want to throw something with trebles and maybe articulated, but also thinking a big jig head style swimbaits might be less frustrating to throw? My plan is to pull this across the tops of weedbeds down 5’ to 15’. What would work good for this?

Lake gizzard shad and thermocline
Was fishing a small lake yesterday and starting marking a lot of fish on a 12’ hard bottom flat. Thought they were crappie, and since I catch a lot of bass while crappie fishing this lake I decided to give it a try. Didn’t catch anything except 1 crappie. After wasting a lot of time I moved on telling myself these fish just weren’t biting. In retrospect I am wondering if these were gizzard shad? I’m used to seeing them in a more concentrated school/ball but given the depth maybe they were spread out more? Thermocline was around 15’ and I marked nothing below it so maybe they were forced up on the flat?
